Treyarch have shown mercy following the desperate pleas of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 players who have been terrorized by 9-Bang. The latest update has removed it entirely from Blackout mode and players are already celebrating the occasion.

Gaming organisations should definitely host an award show where the most annoying game mechanic, item or character wins it all. Had this been the case, it would be a tight race in 2018 between League of Legends' Zoe and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's 9-Bang.

The latter is a rightfully reviled item. Regular flashbangs are quite satisfying to use in FPS games, since they can usually be countered by looking away from them and it usually turns a duel into a battle of wits and twitch reflexes between two opponents. On the other hand, 9-Bang can blind an opponent for a period of time slightly shorter than the , without any options of counterplay.

According to the latest , 9-Bang's removal may be temporary while Treyarch "evaluate its place in gameplay loop". While many wished for a permanent removal of this hated item, others are hoping Treyarch will find a way to balance it out and return it to Blackout.

Meanwhile, Concussion Grenades received a buff, like to compensate for the absence of its demonic relative. Throw distance has been increased, but Treyarch didn't specify by how much. Players can also carry two of these now.

The patch also brought some other changes and additions, and even though they might seem minor compared to the removal of 9-Bang, many players should rejoice upon seeing them.

For example, there is a new event in town, called Blightfather which promises massive rewards. Some players may have fought him during the beta, but didn't have an incentive to do so again back then. Blightfather will be available in all playlists, across all platforms and will be pretty much free for all, so be on the lookout for players who might want to eliminate you while fighting him.
