Obsidian Entertainment and Versus Evil have announced their plans for the three DLC packs in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Apparently these packs will be along the lines of classic expansions, adding lore, story and quests to the game.
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire's DLC voyage will commence with Beast of Winter that will be released in July 2018, roughly two months after the actual game's release. This DLC will take players to "an island populated by a mysterious doomsday cult". Apparently these loonies hold an ancient secret that could be related to alternate dimensions as players will have to go adventuring in "The Beyond" which holds ancient souls and "devilish" challenges.
Seeker, Slayer, Survivor is the second DLC that will be arriving in September 2018. This one will be more combat oriented but just like Beast of Winter, it will take place on an isolated island. I guess Obsidian are taking the titular archipelago part quite seriously. Players will be tasked with rediscovering ancient relics and they will apparently clash with "Eora's most skilled and savage" inhabitants.
The DLC salvo will conclude with The Forgotten Sanctum which will be available in November 2018. The Forgotten Sanctum will allegedly test the allegiance and morality of the player's party as they sail out to help, or derail, the plans of great wizards of Eora. Players will be presented with choices to befriend, betray or befuddle the mages as they progress through the DLC. Obsidian also claim that the consequences of players' actions within this DLC will cary over to other parts of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire.
Considering the scale of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, the three DLC packs so soon may look like an overkill but keep in mind that backers have already had access to the game for a while now and will find more content a welcome addition.
