THQ Nordic officially announced the acquisition of action-adventure classic Outcast. The company confirmed that everything has been finalised with the original creators as Outcast becomes their seventh acquisition in the last 13 months.

THQ Nordic's acquisition spree is continuing in 2019 after the company announced that the purchase of 1999's classic Outcast has been finalised with the three original creators of the game.

According to the statement, the acquisition of the Outcast IP rights is the best possible way to start the year. They also wrapped up 2018 with the acquisition of Carmageddon, so that's a strong year ending and start for THQ Nordic.

The company didn't share any additional info about the plans for the newly acquired IP, they only mentioned that the acquisition itself will be handled by THQ Nordic AB, based in Karlstad, Sweden while sales, distribution and new sequels will be done by THQ Nordic in Vienna, Austria.

Outcast is THQ Nordic's seventh acquisition in the last thirteen months. In 2018, the company bought IP rights for Carmageddon, Alone in the Dark, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Second Sight, TimeSplitters and Act of War.

These games are just a fraction of THQ Nordic's catalogue which includes franchises such as Darksiders, Titan Quest, Saints Row and Dead Island.

For those unfamiliar with Outcast, it's a sci-fi action adventure that puts players in the boots of an elite soldier named Cutter Slade on his journey through alien planet Adhelpha. The game features fast-paced gameplay, a cover system and a lot of aliens to take care of with high-end weapons and gadgets.

A remake of the original - Outcast: Second Contact was released back in 2017 and the game enjoys mostly positive reviews on Steam with a score of 89 per cent.

Hopefully, THQ Nordic soon reveal more information on the potential reboot or sequel. Given that they bought so many IP's in such a short time and remained silent tells us that it could be a long wait before we hear any Outcast related news.
