According to Ars Technica, a well-informed source about everything concerning EA, new information from insiders suggests that the upcoming Battlefield title (currently known as Battlefield 6) will feature a very short campaign, reportedly lasting no more than six hours, which is a surprisingly short time to deliver a proper war story, to be honest.
Battlefield serial was always known for its quality multiplayer content, but with the introduction of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, a single-player segment became an important part of those games as well, perhaps as an answer to the Call of Duty campaigns that were starting to take over more and more players back in the day.
EA then released Battlefield 3 and 4, featuring amazing campaigns, but after that, the story segment was totally lost to this serial. The latest instalment, Battlefield 2042, didn't have a campaign at all, and that raised many eyebrows among the Battlefield fans, especially those who enjoyed a quality war story, which, without a doubt, AE with all their studios were more than capable of delivering.
Fast-forward to 2025, EA reported that they will include a campaign in their next Battlefield title, which made many fans very happy. However, according to the latest rumours, or even claims, if those sources are to be believed, the next campaign will be very brief and won't be longer than six hours.
To make things even worse, it seems EA's treatment of the single-player segment is less than fair, to put it mildly. The reports suggest that the single-player segment won't even get the day-one-patch treatment, and regardless of its state, those patches will treat only the multiplayer and a free-to-play battle royale segment. Will this be true? It remains to be seen.
Apart from that, the campaign might even live through some content cuts to be able to catch up with the rest of the game, or EA and Dice will have to engage a new workforce to even the odds. In any case, if you, like us, enjoy a good Battlefield campaign and were looking forward to this one, you could be disappointed.
