Funcom have released another Dune: Awakening patch, which weighs in at just over 26 GB on Steam. The patch is quite large with various tweaks, improvements and fixes to the game, including changes to Sandworm behaviour near spice fields, more PvP tweaks, vehicle improvements and more.
Sandworm and Faction Behaviour Updates
One of the most noticeable changes in this new patch is the adjustment to sandworm behaviour. Sandworms will now linger around spice fields that have been recently harvested, adding an extra layer of danger for resource gatherers.
In addition, the frequency of Harkonnen attacks on certain Atreides bases (and vice versa) in Hagga Basin has been reduced, aiming to balance PvP encounters and give players more breathing room during battles.
Improved User Experience and Streamer Mode Enhancements
The main menu’s “Play Now” button has been updated to filter out private servers, making it easier for players to jump into public games without confusion.
For content creators, streamer mode has seen a few upgrades. When active, the map creator’s name is now hidden if the player created the sinkchart, and the sector name in the Deep Desert will also stay hidden, helping maintain privacy during streams.
Vehicle and Inventory Improvements
Vehicle interactions have been polished, allowing players to enter vehicles more easily from different angles. The exchange system has also been improved - items can now be listed from and claimed directly to your Ornithopter’s vehicle inventory, streamlining logistics for desert explorers.
Important Exploit Fixes
This patch addresses several major exploits that players had been using to gain unfair advantages. Issues that allowed full item durability repairs, resource duplication, and unauthorised vehicle movement through Pentashields have all been resolved.
Additionally, vulnerabilities that could lead to increased combat damage have been closed, further reinforcing fair play across Arrakis.
A Step Toward a More Balanced Desert
Funcom say that these updates reflect their ongoing commitment to improving Dune: Awakening, enhancing both the gameplay balance and overall user experience. Whether you’re a spice harvester, a PvP warrior, or a solo explorer, this patch should make your journey on Arrakis a bit smoother - and a lot safer from unexpected exploits.
