Next game drop for Minecraft will see a massive overhaul for one of the oldest and least-utilized resources in the game: Copper. The newly revamped resource will not only see new mechanics and tools, but will also add an unexpected mob to the game that has been requested by players for years.
The update is already available in the Beta and Preview builds for Bedrock Edition, allowing early access players to try out the new features. The overhaul introduces a new tier of gear: Copper tools and armor, all of which have stats that slot it between Stone and Iron, making it perfect for early- to mid-game use.
Players who follow these features probably remember this particular unused mob from the mob vote years ago. The idea for Copper Golem was officially lost, but Mojang brought it back to life with some game-breaking utility for players.
Copper Tools and Armor Tier
- Copper equipment will sit between Stone and Iron tiers
- Higher durability and speed than Stone, but with restrictions
- For example, Copper Pickaxes cannot mine high-tier ores like Diamonds
- Intended as a bridge material for players advancing past Stone tools
This new balance helps players use a common resource to reach Iron faster without skipping progression, keeping gameplay smooth and accessible.
Meet the Copper Golem
The headline feature of this drop is the long-awaited Copper Golem:
- Can be crafted alongside a Copper Chest
- Retrieves and organizes items into appropriate storage
- Moves items from the Copper Chest into other chests with matching stacks
- Offers automated inventory sorting for players
The Copper Golem is small but incredibly useful, acting as a storage assistant that simplifies one of Minecraft’s most tedious tasks - inventory management.
Java Snapshot Coming Soon
The content is only available currently in the Beta and Preview builds for Bedrock, but Mojang is also planning a Java Snapshot in the near future. Feedback and bug reports for early content are encouraged, as these Beta and Preview Builds are to test and help polish up the release.
With a brand-new equipment tier and a much-requested mob, this update for Minecraft could be one of the biggest early-game progression updates to come to the game in recent years. Keep an eye out for an official snapshot release, but get on the Beta now if you can’t wait.
