Valve's handheld device Steam Deck pre-order numbers are looking great. In less than three hours since the reservations went live, more than 100k people managed to get one.

The reservations for Valve's brand new piece of hardware, Steam Deck, officially went live yesterday but Steam's servers went down shortly after that, due to overwhelming traffic on the popular PC storefront.

It's no surprise to be fair, Valve are basically releasing a handheld PC, that will allow you to play your Steam games on the go as well as install other software, mods and customise your experience to your liking.

Therefore, the demand for Steam Deck is huge and according to some unofficial info, more than 100k people have managed to pre-order their device in less than three hours since the reservation page went live.

The info comes from SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik who revealed that Steam Deck reservations website has leaked the reservation queue size, which give us an approximate number of pre-orders.

These are the last numbers that Djundik managed to find:

North America :

  • 512 GB model: 55K
  • 256 GB model: 28K

Europe:

  • 512 GB model: 9.6K
  • 256 GB model: 5K

United Kingdom:

  • 512 GB: 7K

Now, keep in mind that the numbers are not 100 per cent accurate but they certainly give us a clearer picture at the scope of the reservations and the actual demand for Steam Deck.

Hopefully, we'll get a more official version of the pre-order numbers from Valve very soon.

Steam Deck will start shipping in December 2021.
