You've got to give it to PlayStation 4 owners - they really know how to welcome a superhero. Spider-Man managed to beat Far Cry 5 and become the fastest selling game of 2018, in spite of the former enjoying a significant format advantage.
There were no swing votes for Spider-Man fans and while its victory over Far Cry 5 was only slight, Ubisoft's game did have the upper hand because of PC and Xbox One numbers to lean on. Spidey, being a PlayStation 4 exclusive, had to do it himself but as our editor says - the world deserves a proper Spider-Man game.
To make matters even better for Insomniac Games and Spider-Man, Marvel's web slinger racked up almost twice the numbers of God of War. Knowing what sort of relentless hype accompanied that game, this is no small feat. Batman: Arkham Knight is still ahead though. Well, what did you expect? He's Batman.
Just like , we've got three newcomers to the list, the second being Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age by Square Enix. Grand Theft Auto V kept third place while F1 2018 exchanged the pole position for fourth place.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy may not be pulling nine-weeks anymore but the little guy's popularity is there for all to see. We'll see whether it's very keen on moving on from the top 10 but it seems unlikely.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 is down four places and now sits in sixth, which would be considered decent had there not been for news that its physical sales are lagging behind PES 2018 by 40 or more per cent in the UK. Apparently, ain't helping much. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe slid down one place to seventh.
