Epic Games obviously weren't kidding when they said they've got a lot more in store for Fortnite Creative and the company will be rewarding the most creative of designs with a spot on The Block in Fortnite: Battle Royale's standard map.
The Block is Fortnite's latest feature and it's basically an empty lot, although, in this context, we're looking at an exhibition space. Epic will use it to showcase fan designs but it too is an ongoing project that's likely to evolve.
There are a few guidelines though, such as the "25x25 tile area on a flat section of your island". Epic stressed that your Fortnite Creative design must fit The Block comfortably.
Fortnite Creative tinkerers are encouraged to keep their 'Memory Used' at below 50,000, so as to ensure maximum efficiency. Feel free to ignore chests, floor loot and vehicle spawns, which will be handled by Epic.
Players who think their creations worthy of an appearance on the main map can enter the race via Twitter, by typing the hashtag #FortniteBlockParty. The company stated they will "be looking closely at social" in the following days.
In case you didn't catch the announcement of Fortnite Creative, we're talking about a mode that gives you a private island and saves whatever you come up with. Epic wrote that you can "design games, race around the island, battle your friends" and, of course, try to get your soon-to-be-famous behind to The Block.
Epic are definitely on fire these days and even though Fortnite: Battle Royale kicked off Season 7 with more novelties than you can shake your pickaxe at, that's barely the biggest news in the company. Not that coming up with ways to involve Fortnite's community with map creation isn't a big deal, but Epic Megagames have much more in store.
The Epic Games Store has already the most developer-friendly revenue split, where game companies can make 50+ per cent more cash than on Steam for instance. Moreover, if they use Unreal Engine 4, Epic will consider your debt repaid by their already generous commission of 12 per cent.
