That has made the situation of the necessity to log in to PSN for playing on PC even grimmer, especially after the popular mod that skipped this necessity in God of War Ragnarok vanished from the face of the internet.
The mod "NoPSSDK" recently forced PC players of God of War Ragnarok to look for ways to force it not to log in to PSN without pirating it. For whatever reason, that mod was quickly taken down from the internet, not exactly leaving PC gamers pleased.
According to NexusMods - the site where the mod was hosted - the decision to do so came from the creator, not the website. It would appear that whether Sony intervened or issued a legal threat, the mod's creator decided the battle wasn't worth continuing.
Meanwhile, Sony's requirement for PSN sign-ins on offline, single-player games on PC has just kept pissing off a lot of people and when in-bound Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was confirmed, it was also confirmed that that will require players to log in with PSN too.
Despite, of course, the original Horizon Zero Dawn on PC not having done so. Yet for all the improved visuals of the remastered version, these are theoretic rather than practical, because unless you provide Sony with a phone number and various other personal details, you will not be able to access them.
This seems to be increasing as Sony tightens the requirements for accounts, much to chagrin from the greater PC gaming community.
