EA will make The Sims 4 free to download on October 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM PDT / 7:00 PM CET, and this can be done on Origin, Steam, Mac via Origin, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
The game will stay free to play in the base form but if you've followed the series over the years, you will be well aware that it has enough paid DLC to pay for the base game's price several times over.
Naturally, the DLC will remain paid but even so, the potential players will have a lot they can spend time on, if they are into wonky life simulators.
Those who had purchased the base game will be able to claim the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift from September 14 to October 17, 2022, giving the players more than a month to do so.
The kit includes indoor and outdoor furniture that is inspired by the Soutwestern desert as well as materials like stone and wood. In order to grab the DLC, the players just need to log in and claim it on the main menu.
There will also be an EA live stream talking about The Sims series soon, which probably means they could announce a new game, DLC or expansion for The Sims 4, which is why they are trying to get more people invested in it.
