Rise of the Ronin is developed by Team Ninja and will be PlayStation 5 exclusive

Rise of the Ronin looks exactly like the Assassin's Creed Japan game we always wanted and it might even release before Ubisoft's title.

Koei Tecmo studio Team Ninja are on fire lately with new game announcements. Earlier this year at the Xbox Games Showcase we got the official reveal of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty , and today, we have the first look at the studio's new open-world action RPG Rise of the Ronin.

Unlike Wo Long, Rise of the Ronin is a PlayStation 5 exclusive and won't be coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC , at least there is no official confirmation of that.

The release date is vaguely set for 2024 but we suggest you don't take this as set in stone since there's always a chance of a delay when games have release windows that are years away.

Team Ninja describe their new title as a combat-focused open-world action RPG. Rise of the Ronin is set in Japan during the late 19th century, a dark period for the country at civil war between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Anti-Shogunate factions.

Players take the role of Ronin, described as a warrior bound to no master and free to make his own choices. The devs promise an immersive and historically inspired world combined with their renowned combat action.

As for the story, Team Ninja promise something different from their usual storytelling. The characters will react differently to your decision and have their own brand of justice and motivations. You will be able to side with or against them which will have a great impact on the story.

Team Ninja Rise of the Ronin Rise of the Ronin reminds a lot of Ghost of Tsushima but you can't make a historical, Japan setting game look much different

All in all, a very interesting premise and stunning visuals will certainly catch the eye of many gamers who enjoy sprawling open-world RPGs like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Ghost of Tsushima or The Witcher.

It's a darn shame that Rise of the Ronin won't be available to more players given it's locked to PlayStation 5, but it is what it is, we can only hope that a year or two after the release on PlayStation 5, Rise of the Ronin arrives to Xbox and PC.
