One of the world's biggest publishers, Electronic Arts (EA), and a Japanese developer Koei Tecmo known for the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series are working together on a brand new IP, EA announced via press release.
The game is being developed by Koei Tecmo division Omega Force who previously worked on the above-mentioned franchises and Monster Hunter-style game Toukiden. The untitled project is set to be revealed later in September 2022 but EA revealed the first details, confirming that the game is from the "hunting" genre, set in fantasy feudal Japan.
So, it's safe to say that we're getting a live service, Monster Hunter-like game with all sorts of Japanese mythical monsters and creatures. Very exciting indeed!
EA's General Manager of EA Partners Jeff Gamon said Omega Force elevated the hunting genre to the next level, with innovative mechanics and combat gameplay. "We can’t wait to introduce their groundbreaking new adventure to the world later this month," Gamon said.
All in all, it does sound like a pretty big game and we cannot wait to see more of it later this month. Hunting genre games have certainly been on the rise over the last couple of years with games like Monster Hunter Rise and Dauntless. We also have the rumoured Xbox exclusive from Certain Affinity which could be coming in the near future.
No details about the platforms and the release date have been mentioned by EA yet. We assume the game is a current-gen-only title, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, in the next couple of years.
