Rare have rolled out the 1.0.7 patch for their seafaring adventure Sea of Thieves, adding private crews as well as updates in progression and economy departments. Of course, there's also a bunch of fixes and performance improvements.
First up on many a player's list are closed crews, or This Seat is Taken as Rare like to call it, which means you can set crew type options to open and closed.
Closed crews allows players to start games on Galleons or Sloops by themselves, allowing only friends to join in. Sea of Thieves will also get dynamic switching between open and closed crews soon.
Rare have finally made it possible to hand players bananas, wooden planks and cannon balls. Sea of Thieves can finally talk about the thief-level sneakiness, since gamer tags and player titles of pirates swimming underwater will no longer be visible.
Rare even has a backstory for the price drops, claiming that "greedy pirates had overpriced the Castaway Bilge Rat weapons and ship liveries", which have "now been reduced. Any purchases made over the adjustment period will eventually be reimbursed by the Sea of Thieves team.
There are also a few new sound effects for the Flintlock Pistol, more precisely the sounds of close fire and reloading. Sea of Thieves will also be getting some icon work as well as health bar UI changes, which Rare claims will reflect some of your decisions. We should know what exactly they mean soon but Rare claim the changes are "fancy".
Rare claim to have finally addressed the issue with changing hair colour and/or scars. They claim they've done the same for delayed achievements and commendations in Sea of Thieves. Unfortunately, these seem to be recurring problems for Rare as we seem to recall it happening back in beta.
