Rare announced the start date of the first Sea of Thieves season is approaching quickly and explained how the system will work in the foreseeable future.
Sea of Thieves' first season is starting on January 28, 2021, and Rare offered an explanation of how the seasonal system will work. In short, it's the same as what we've seen from countless live service games already.
There are 100 levels in the season pass, each of them holding some sort of reward. You will gain experience that will improve your level by completing activities in the game and you will have roughly three months to get to the max rank since they're trying to get four seasons into each year.
A total of 11 rewards will be tied to the premium progression track, which will be called Plunder Pass . It costs 999 Ancient Coins, which translates to about $10.
With that in mind, you might be wondering what will happen to the regular update schedule for Sea of Thieves. According to the seasons announcement , there will still be monthly updates during each season that will bring new stock to the Pirate Emporium. Besides that, there will be live events, world changes, fixes and quality of life improvements on a regular basis.
