Jagex are continuing RuneScape's 20th-anniversary festivities with the first part of One Upon A Time, a new storyline available to everyone.
RuneScape's celebration is continuing with the first instalment of the multi-part anniversary storyline which is named Once Upon a Time. The first instalment is named Foreshadowing and begins the celebratory adventure that will last the entire year as the players relive the game's past, present and future as the story goes on.
As they go through the adventure, players will meet both allies and antagonists who will provide the themes and the plot of each story. Relomia, the emissary of Sliske who has perished by now, will try to find her purpose in the world as she no longer has a boss. Players will also get to see several characters they already met but the exact points of who and how remain to be found out by the adventurers themselves.
Completing Foreshadowing will award players with a new kind of hat, named Redomia's Party Hat, which will apparently pay tribute to the party hat that the community was asking for.
According to Jagex, RuneScape still has a long way to go and both the contemporary game and Old School RuneScape are in for several updates in 2021.
