Psyonix teased that Rocket League may finally allow players to choose their respawn location after being demolished, addressing a long-requested community feature

A new Rocket League teaser suggests Psyonix may finally allow players to choose their respawn location after demolitions for the first time in over 10 years.

Rocket League could be adding one of the community’ oldest requests after years of wanting it. The latest tease by Psyonix implies that players will be able to select where they respawn after a demo.

Rocket League’s gameplay loop has stayed the same since its initial release all the way back in 2015. Sure, we’ve gotten new game modes, updates, and cosmetics galore but the actual gameplay itself has stayed relatively untouched for over 10 years.

This consistency has allowed Rocket League to thrive as one of the biggest live-service games of all time. That being said, there has always been one aspect of the game that annoyed competitive players: respawn positioning after demos.

Rocket League May Finally Let Players Choose Respawn Side

When players are demo’d in Rocket League, they currently respawn back at their own goal. However, which side they spawn on is currently random, and matters significantly.

Players can find themselves spawning right near the ball and contesting for possession once again. But they can also end up spawning on the other side, with the ball driving toward their goal with no time to react.

This tweet from Psyonix shows a quick teaser clip with the caption: “The choice is yours .” You can see a player being demoed at the front of their goal, only to respawn on one side and have a goal scored against them.

The replay then rewinds all the way back up to a glowing reticle with what looks to be a brand new UI prompt.Allowing players to choose where they respawn would be one of the largest gameplay shifts Rocket League has ever seen if it comes to fruition.

This new teaser comes hot off of rumors about what the future of the franchise may look like, as well as claims that Unreal Engine 6 may be under development for the future of Rocket League.
