Gamescom Opening Night Live is a different kind of event from Summer Game Fest. Where Geoff Keighley's June show is built almost entirely around world premieres, the ONL tends to be heavier on updates, trailers, and release date reveals for games already on our radar. That was true of the 2026 edition as well, with confirmed appearances from Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Gears of War: E-Day, The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, and a handful of other previously known titles eating up most of the runtime.
But there were still fresh faces in the crowd, and some of them are well worth your attention. Here's every brand-new game that made its debut at Gamescom ONL 2026.
The Biggest New Games Announced at Gamescom ONL 2026
- Nodus Fall
- Rainbow Six: Tactics
- Sea of Remnants
- Lofsong
- Mariachi Legends
- Elta: Defy All Gods
- Murals
- Age Twisters
- Afterworld
- Petit Planet
- LEGO Skylines
- Exterminauts
- Gravhounds
1. Nodus Fall
- Developer: HoYoverse
- Platforms: PS5, PC
- Release date: TBA
Nobody saw this one coming. HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, opened Gamescom ONL 2026 with a trailer that looked nothing like anything they have ever made before. Nodus Fall is a dark, high fantasy co-op action game where up to four players take on the roles of Weavers, setting off on a perilous journey to defeat mythical gods and monsters across a ruined world.
The visual language is dense and moody, far removed from HoYoverse's signature sleek anime aesthetic. Think towering demonic enemies, brutal executions, grim architecture, and a tone that draws much closer to FromSoftware's work than anything Genshin Impact fans would recognise. It's a bold swing for a studio that built its reputation on colourful live-service games, and honestly, it looks impressive for it.
No release date or platforms were confirmed beyond the debut trailer, but Nodus Fall is clearly the beginning of HoYoverse's push into a different kind of market entirely.
2. Rainbow Six: Tactics
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games Store)
- Release date: 2027
The Rainbow Six franchise is going in a very different direction. Rainbow Six: Tactics takes the iconic Operators of the Siege universe and drops them into a single-player, XCOM-style turn-based tactics game where you dispatch squads across the world to neutralise terrorist threats.
It's a genuine departure from what the series has been for over a decade, and the reveal was one of the more surprising moments of the night. The game was announced on stage by Sjokz, and what was shown suggested a careful, methodical approach to mission planning and squad management that should feel familiar to fans of Into the Breach or the XCOM series, but wrapped in the Rainbow Six universe's roster and gadgets.
It will not be ready until 2027, but for anyone who has been waiting for a serious single-player Rainbow Six experience, this is the announcement they've been wanting for years.
3. Sea of Remnants
- Developer: Joker Studio
- Platforms: PS5, PC, iOS, Android
- Release date: TBA
Sea of Remnants is a seafaring game that is clearly trying to bring together a lot of ideas at once: Sea of Thieves-style exploration, turn-based combat, gambling mechanics, and sidescrolling segments are all apparently in the mix. Whether all of those moving parts can be shaped into something cohesive is the big question, but the debut trailer was striking enough to make it worth paying attention to.
It looks ambitious in the way that new IPs with a lot to prove often are, and the art direction has character. Details on the developer, platforms, and release date were not revealed at ONL, so this one remains a proper unknown for now.
4. Lofsong
- Developer: Unrelated Studio
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
- Release date: TBA
Lofsong is the quietest and most artistic announcement from this year's ONL, and it's probably the most intriguing for it. Developed by an Italian team and presented on stage by Alessandro Durando, it follows a character holding an orb who appears to use soundwaves to interact with and solve puzzles in the world around them.
The visual tone is reminiscent of Journey, with muted colours, sweeping environments, and a contemplative pace that is almost impossible to imagine coming from a big publisher showcase. It's exactly the kind of game that can get lost in a show full of shooters and action RPGs, but Lofsong has real soul to it, and that first trailer was enough to put it firmly on the wishlist.
5. Mariachi Legends
- Developer: Halberd Studios
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), Xbox Game Pass
- Release date: April 27, 2027
This one was a genuinely pleasant surprise. Mariachi Legends is a Mexican vampire Metroidvania, a mashup of cultural identity and gothic horror that draws inspiration from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and wraps it in the rich visual tradition of Mexican folklore and Day of the Dead iconography.
The trailer showed off layered, interconnected environments, fast and expressive combat, and a visual style that is both gruesome and gorgeous. It is arriving in April 2027 with a firm date already locked in, which suggests development is well underway. Metroidvanias live or die on the quality of their world design, and Mariachi Legends looks like it has a very strong sense of its own identity from the start.
6. Elta: Defy All Gods
- Developer: Afterburner Studios
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam)
- Release date: TBA
Elta: Defy All Gods rounds out the list of new reveals from ONL, and it is aiming squarely at fans of character-action games. The debut trailer showed fluid platforming, free-form melee combat, and a dragon-god companion who fights alongside the player, with the whole thing set in a world of corrupted gods and creatures to brawl through.
It's the kind of game that has become more common in recent years as action games from Asia continue to push the genre forward, and Elta looks polished enough to stand out. A PS5 platform listing was confirmed, with more details presumably coming closer to a release date announcement.
7. Murals
- Developer: Dlala Studios
- Platforms: PC
- Release date: 2027
Dlala Studios, the team behind Battletoads (2020) and Disney Illusion Island, is back with the first game based on their own original IP in over a decade. Murals is an isometric action-adventure set across dark, twisted reimaginings of classic fairy tales: The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, and more. A nameless hero must fight their way through these corrupted versions of beloved stories, with customisable combat that Dlala's CEO Aj Grand-Scutton says they've spent significant time making feel genuinely good.
The visual style is colourful but carries an edge of unease that fits the premise well. If you grew up knowing these stories, you'll know their original versions were already darker than the sanitised retellings, and Murals seems to lean into that fully. Coming to PC in 2027.
8. Age Twisters
- Developer: Krafton
- Platforms: TBA
- Release date: TBA
Age Twisters is a two-player co-op narrative adventure where a grandfather and granddaughter team up to solve puzzles using magical bracelets that can change their ages. The tone is warm and clearly family-friendly, drawing comparisons to It Takes Two in its emphasis on cooperative play built around a personal relationship.
No release date or platforms were announced at ONL, but it looks like exactly the kind of game that can quietly become a word-of-mouth hit for people looking for something to play with someone outside the usual gaming demographic.
9. Afterworld
- Developer: Paradox Development Studio
- Platforms: PC
- Release date: TBA
Paradox Interactive revealed Afterworld, a post-apocalyptic city-builder that blends Fallout's scorched wasteland aesthetic with the strategic depth the studio is known for. The imagery shown at ONL included vandalized American landmarks and Mad Max-style devastation, with the goal apparently being to rebuild civilization from the ashes.
It is a genuinely fresh spin on the city-builder genre, and Paradox is a developer with the pedigree to pull it off. Details on platforms and release timing were not shared, but this one is already drawing serious interest.
10. Petit Planet
- Developer: HoYoverse (miHoYo)
- Platforms: PC, iOS, Android (previously announced)
- Release date: Winter 2026
HoYoverse turned up at ONL twice, which is impressive even for a studio that seems to never sleep. Petit Planet is their second reveal of the night and it's a sharp tonal departure from Nodus Fall: a cozy life-sim set in a galactic world where you can dress up, cook, farm, and build a home surrounded by cute animal neighbours. Geoff Keighley himself appeared charmed by it on stage, which tells you everything about the vibe.
If you've been playing Infinity Nikki and wish it had more base-building, Petit Planet is aimed squarely at you. It arrives this winter.
11. LEGO Skylines
- Developer: Iceflake Studios
- Platforms: PS5 (confirmed), likely others
- Release date: TBA
Paradox had a busy ONL, revealing both Afterworld and LEGO Skylines in the same show. The latter is exactly what it sounds like: a cozy city-builder using the LEGO IP, described by Paradox as a natural marriage of two things that were always going to work together. Think Cities: Skylines but built entirely from plastic bricks, with all the satisfying snap-into-place logic that implies.
LEGO games have an enormous built-in audience, and city-builders already have a dedicated fanbase. The combination is commercial common sense, and the reveal trailer made it look genuinely appealing beyond just brand recognition.
12. Exterminauts
- Developer: Behaviour Interactive
- Platforms: PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S
- Release date: TBA
Exterminauts is a co-op alien extermination shooter developed by veterans of Halo and Battlefield, and it is clearly aimed at the crowd that cannot get enough of Starship Troopers-flavoured bug hunts. The premise is straightforward: you and your friends take on endless waves of alien creatures with a variety of heavy weapons and, presumably, a lot of noise.
Early access and a playtest are both coming this year, which means the team wants community feedback shaping the experience before full launch. No firm release date yet, but it can be wishlisted on Steam now.
13. Gravhounds
- Developer: Octopus Panic
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass Day One
- Release date: Early Access November 2, 2026
The final new reveal to note from ONL is Gravhounds, a game about dog astronauts that appears to be delightfully silly. From the brief glimpse shown, it involves dogs in space suits with lampshade collars, and the tone is very much built around absurdity and charm rather than anything threatening. Details are essentially non-existent beyond the concept, but it got a strong reaction from the crowd for obvious reasons.

That's every brand-new game announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. It was not a crowded evening when it comes to brand new announcements, but Nodus Fall and Rainbow Six: Tactics in particular are the ones with real potential behind them. Gamescom itself runs through August 30, and more reveals are expected from the show floor in the days ahead.
