Rocket League is about to get one of its biggest updates ever. With Psyonix updating the game to Unreal Engine 6 in 2027. They first revealed this information earlier this year but we have gotten a small peek at what they have in store.
This update has been given to pro's who play rocket league to help them better improve on what Psyonix is doing with the game. Psyonix states they are rebuilding the game from the ground up.
Rocket League Is Updating To Unreal Engine 6
They have shown footage of pros who have been playing this updated version on the last day of the 2026 Rocket League Championship Series World Championship. JSTN and GARRETTG have been some of the pros who have been playing the updated game.
Not only that but they stated that pros will be receiving invites to test out the game in the near future. So we can expect more changes to be implemented into the game when they switch over to Unreal Engine 6.
As stated before Psyonix has said they are rebuilding the game from the ground up. We don't know how much they will change but this will definitely have an impact on how the game looks.
Rocket League started using Unreal Engine 3 back when it was released in 2015. They could have used Unreal Engine 4 which came out about a year prior. But now Rocket League is jumping to Unreal Engine 6 over a decade after it's release.
Which also lines up with Epic Games updating their games to use Artificial Intelligence in their games. We dont know how this will impact Rocket League when they make the switch to Unreal Engine 6.
For now they will be working with Pros to make sure Rocket League is better when they make the switch to Unreal Engine 6 in 2027. No date has been released yet.
