Blizzard, the developers of Overwatch 2 just announced upcoming changes to the game, including hero acquisitions and unlocking them, discounted shop contents, maps, and more.

Currently, Overwatch 2 is in Season 9 and will begin Season 10 soon, starting in April 2024. While most of the changes this season were centred around heroes and balancing them, the game still needs additional tweaks.

As we are halfway through Season 9 in Overwatch 2, Blizzard decided to give the players an insight into what changes they plan to introduce in the upcoming patches. There are tweaks to heroes, new nad reworked maps and more.

Below, you can find all the details on these upcoming additions that Blizzard plan to bring with future updates to their popular hero shooter Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Unlocking Heroes

Starting from Season 10, all new heroes introduced to the game will be automatically unlocked for players upon their launch. Additionally, all existing heroes will also be unlocked for players, eliminating the need to unlock them through the Battle Pass to play in all game modes.

However, new players will still need to complete the first-time user experience to unlock heroes gradually as they learn the game mechanics. Once all the heroes from the original Overwatch roster have been unlocked, all the heroes from Overwatch 2 will also become available for players to use.

Overwatch 2 The New Mythic Shop

The Mythic Shop introduces a new way to acquire past and current seasonal Mythic hero skins as you progress through the Premium Battle Pass. Players can customize their progression towards each mythic skin by choosing which aspects to unlock.

For instance, if you prefer not to unlock all of a skin's colour or model variations, you can allocate your progression towards other mythic hero skins. Moreover, past Mythic hero skins will be added to the Mythic Shop, allowing players to purchase their favourite skins.

These seasonal mythic hero skins become available in the shop two seasons after their initial debut. As a result, Mythic hero skins from Seasons 1 through 7 will be accessible in the Mythic Shop starting from Season 10.

Overwatch 2 New and reworked maps

In Season 11, players can anticipate the debut of Runasapi, a new push map set amidst the captivating landscapes of Peru within the realm of Illari and the Inti Warriors.

Additionally, several existing maps will undergo reworks for improved gameplay experiences. Notably, Season 11 will feature a revamped version of Colosseo, offering fresh challenges and strategic opportunities for players.

Overwatch 2 New Challenges and Rewards

Beginning in Season 10, players will accrue coins while advancing through both the Free and Premium tiers of the Battle Pass, streamlining their acquisition and ensuring a more consistent earning experience. Additionally, there will be an uptick in the number of coins obtainable for free, rising from 540 to 600 coins per season.

As Season 10 approaches, the development team remains dedicated to ensuring an enjoyable experience for all players.

In preparation for Season 10, the team is planning another developer update to discuss upcoming changes to competitive play and the Defense Matrix. This update will cover adjustments aimed at addressing disruptive player behaviour, refining grouping restrictions and competitive gameplay, and enhancing player anonymity.
