Take-Two Interactive's first-quarter investor call has provided us with a few nuggets of info on GTA and Read Dead Online, with the latter's 'major' update specifically mentioned.
Take-Two's president Karl Slatoff said that Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online are heading for major updates later in the fiscal year, but he also hinted at what this will entail for RDO.
Slatoff said the update is "featuring an extension to existing frontier pursuits for Red Dead Online, as well as Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest update ever, featuring a new take on heists in a new location.
As far as currently available Red Dead Online content goes, the Naturalist update is apparently doing pretty great. According to Slatoff, this was the game's best day ever outside of the holiday period, which we suppose is only fair considering that the fans have been ignored for a while.
In fact, you may recall that players were dressing up as clowns in Red Dead Online, suggesting the studio treats them like clowns. Considering that the last update was the Moonshiners one back in December 2019, it's definitely been a long time coming.
Of course, there's also the issue of the pandemic, which did its fair share of disruptions, but the wait was still too long. We just hope that the Naturalist update doesn't entail the same lengthy wait until the next one.
While the fans may have been ignored, Rockstar has been keeping up with Sony's and Microsoft's next-gen aspirations. It's been confirmed that GTA Online's launch comes with content exclusive to Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PC, so the show goes on.
