We are just a week from a major PUBG patch that will change the business model of the game and bring along updates for weapons, gear and DBNO state.
PUBG patch release date has been set for:
- PT: January 10, 2022 10 AM – Until maintenance end on January 12, 2022 (TBD)
- CET: January 10, 2022 7 PM – Until maintenance end on January 12, 2022
- KST: January 11, 2022 3 AM – Until maintenance end on January 12, 2022
The update will bring along the free to play model so anyone can give the game a try but it remains to be seen how the devs will deal with the inevitable influx of cheaters that comes with anything that goes F2P.
Besides the switch to F2P model, PUBG will have major changes for Win94 and VSS. The lever-action rifle will finally get the iron sights back that will improve its capabilities in both close and mid-range while VSS will get a canted sight attachment that will offer a close-range alternative to the existing x3.5 scope.
DBNO state will also become harder to survive the more you get knocked down. The first four knocks have a slightly longer bleed out timer now, the fifth remains unchanged but you will bleed out in five seconds at sixth knockdown with one second less for each subsequent knock until it reaches two seconds at the 9th knock.
The update will also add the contextual ping feature which is not necessarily well-received by everyone as old school PUBG players prefer emphasis on voice comms.
