Today, Sony confirmed that a new State of Play showcase will happen at midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, the 24th of September. The event would run for just over 30 minutes and promise updates on more than 20 titles set to come into the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2.
This is likely to be the final State of Play event for 2024, and while expected to be rich in great announcements, for the most part, Sony has insinuated that many of the games showcased will come from third-party developers and partners.
As such, I wouldn't expect too much of first-party heavy-lifting from PlayStation themselves, aside from perhaps that very eagerly awaited Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster.
The lineup is expected to include games from studios across the world, including both previously announced titles and those making their first showing.
While fans might set their hopes on reveals, Sony has made it known that the show will be mostly about partnerships-meaning other publishers-partners and indie developers, too-join in to give a sneak peek of what's coming to the PlayStation ecosystem in the near future.
While this presentation might not be full of first-party titles, fans can expect a slew of games announced across genres. It will be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitch, both in English and Japanese, for those interested in tuning in.
This truly sounds like a promising State of Play, as it offers shots at some of the upcoming titles both for its console and virtual reality platform. PS5 and PlayStation VR2 fans alike will want to crop this date in their calendars, as this could prove to be full of new exciting announcements.
