After many, many rumours suggesting we're getting a PlayStation Showcase in May, Sony have today officially announced the event for next Wednesday, May 24 at 1 pm Pacific Time / 9 pm British Time.
The showcase will feature new announcements from Sony's first-party studios as well as surprises from third-party partners. The event will be the first major PlayStation Showcase in two years so it's safe to say that we're up for a treat, as many PlayStation Studios could be revealing their new games in just a couple of weeks.
"The show will run a bit over an hour, focusing on PS5 and PS VR2 games in development from top studios from around the world. Expect a glimpse at several new creations from PlayStation Studios, as well as spellbinding games from our third-party partners and indie creators," Sony said in their blog post.
The showcase will be live-streamed on PlayStation's official social media channels below:
As for the predictions, you can bet that we'll see a new trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and potentially some details on pre-orders and a release date, given that the game is targeting H2 2023 release date.
Additionally, Marvel's Wolverine is another title that is a strong candidate for a new trailer at the showcase. Other than that, the rumoured Mortal Kombat 1 is also set to be properly revealed at Sony's show.
All in all, we're obviously super excited to see what PlayStation Studios have been cooking for these past two years. Hopefully, the show offers plenty of gameplay and little to no CGI trailers, as rarely any gamer is a fan of that.
