Rumour has it that Sony have money hatted Konami's upcoming Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and Castlevania games to make them a timed PlayStation 5 exclusives.
As you probably know, Sony have already stuck a deal to make Konami's upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake a console exclusive to PlayStation 5 for at least a year. This made many Xbox fans unhappy but if the latest rumours are true, there's more similarly bad news for Microsoft's console owners, who could be left out without the rumoured Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and Castlevania games.
Reliable video games industry journalist Jez Corden has recently tweeted that Sony landed a deal with Konami for Metal Gear Solid and potentially Castlevania exclusivity, similar to how they did with Silent Hill.
If true, this means that the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and the next Castlevania game could skip Xbox Series X|S and Switch consoles for at least a year. Given that Sony's big showcase is rumoured for later this month, we should not be waiting for too long to see if these rumours come to fruition.
Those who follow the console wars closely certainly won't be surprised if Sony locked more games to their console as they've been doing these aggressive timed exclusive deals for a while now. The latest example is the abovementioned Silent Hill 2 Remake while previously, we also have examples like Final Fantasy 7 Remake , Forspoken and the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 .
Xbox on the other hand, rarely have such big deals for blockbuster titles. Yes, Microsoft have struck deals with Avalanche Studios for the upcoming Contraband and GSC Game World for the long-awaited Stalker 2 . Still, generally, Sony do more of these and always manage to snatch major franchises, unlike Xbox.
Anyway, keep in mind that these reports are just rumours at this point so definitely take everything with a grain of salt until we get more concrete info and of course, an official announcement, which will hopefully be coming soon.
