As a part of the PlayStation Plus subscription plan, Sony gives away three games each month to all subscribers, regardless of which tier of the subscription you choose. This practice made many gamers turn to this service; even though it is well-known, it is far from ideal.
Those giveaways usually contain one more popular title, or the title of highest production tier, let's put it that way, while the other two games are, let's say, less popular. Sometimes you can get real blockbusters through this subscription, but never until now, the game that is considered a huge hit and just a couple of months after its release.
However, this is about to change with the March PlayStation Plus list of free games because it is officially confirmed on the PlayStation.Blog that Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the EA's last year's major RPG release, will find its way to the PlayStation Plus giveaway.
Given the popularity of the Dragon Age franchise and the legacy the latest installment had to uphold, it was expected that EA would once again surprise the audience with a groundbreaking experience. However, the reality was quite the opposite. Since its release, the game has faced relentless criticism, as it ultimately turned out to be a major failure.
The poor sales performance of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is further reinforced by EA’s decision to partner with Sony to make the game free—likely an attempt to boost its popularity—a move that speaks for itself.
Hopefully, both developers and publishers will take lessons from the Dragon Age: The Veilguard situation and, in the future, prioritise meeting player expectations and wishes over trying to meet certain standards or forcing elements into games where they don’t belong.
The remaining two March free PlayStation Plus games you'll be able to add to your collection are Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection. The February PlayStation Plus free games are available to March 3, so if you haven't picked them yet, now is the perfect time to do it.
