PGC 2021 tournament format
PGC 2021 will be a five-week-long affair, including one week of Rank Decision, three weeks of Weekly League and one week reserved for Grand FInal.
Rank Decision
The first week of PGC 2021 will be spent determining which 16 teams will go on to the first Weekly Survival.
Weekly Survival
No less than 16 Weekly Survival matches will take place over three days. Teams hoping to advance to the Weekly Finals will have to enjoy a Chicken Dinner. The remaining 15 teams from each lobby will face off against the team next in line in the Bottom 16 waiting list.
Weekly final
Two days, 10 matches a spot in the Grand Final booked by the team that proves superior. The winning teams from each Weekly Final (three teams total) will earn a spot in the Grand Final.
A total of 10 matches will be played over two days, and the best team will automatically earn a spot in the Grand Final. Nine teams with the most points accrued across all three weeks of Weekly Finals will also advance to the Grand Final.
The rest of the teams will go on to take part in Grand Survival. There, they must win all four matches to advance to the Grand Final.
Grand Final
The final event will take place over three days and see the 16 qualified teams play in a 15-match tournament. The Grand Champion of PGC 2021 will be determined based on Super Point Rule.
PGC 2021 - scoring system
The scoring method used in PGC 2021 will be the one adopted back in April and employed during PCS4 and PCS5, with some adjustments based on fan and team feedback:
- As an exception, the Weekly Survival matches will feature WWCD format and not use SUPER Point Rule.
- All other matches will use the SUPER Point Rule and consider both placement points and kill points.
- The final rankings will be decided by SUPER Point Rule using both placement points and kill points.
More details on PGC 2021 will be announced after PCS5.
