Blizzard confirmed that Overwatch's Lunar New Year event, Year of the Pig, will commence on 24 January and will conclude on 18 February 2019. As per usual, it is set to deliver new themed skins, as well as bring back the vaulted ones.

Unfortunately, Blizzard didn't reveal any of the new skins yet, as the is still extremely fresh on Twitter. They did tease it through a gif of Soldier 76 though, having fun with a pellet drum which quickly switch to a gong that wrote out the starting and concluding dates for the Year of the Pig celebration.

Pellet drum animation may prove to be a new highlight intro for the gritty aimbotter, but it is not officially confirmed yet. On the bright side, Blizzard usually brings out the content from previous years for any associated events, so players should once again have access to everything that was introduced through Lunar New Years in the past.

This content includes 52 voice lines, 13 victory poses, 19 skins, four highlight intros and five emotes. There are also 59 sprays and 36 player icons, but let's be honest - no one cares about these and they just serve to clog up the loot pool of the themed loot boxes.

Considering that the kick off is on 24 January and conclussion on 18 February 2019, players will have almost an entire month to grind for any skins they like. One of the highlights is definitely Mercy's skin is not a Legendary, and will therefore cost just 250 coins, provided you don't get it straight out of a loot box during the event.

There is currently no word on whether Capture the Rooster will be back this year, but it's possible it will be mildly modified if it does. It is, after all, the Year of the Pig so if we do get to chase something on Lijiang Tower, it could be hogs. And we don't mean the big mean ones that hook you all day long for those environment kills.
