Niantic is gearing up for the next big release which is actually closer to the regular player's access than one might believe.
Niantic gained fame at the top of the mobile gaming world with the smash hit Pokemon GO and even though the game is nowhere near its peak popularity these days, it still rakes in ungodly amounts of revenue each month.
Still, it seems like the developers are not content with resting on their laurels and after the Harry Potter game that didn't go all that well, they are launching a closed beta test for Monster Hunter Now .
Pretty much everyone is familiar with MH but those who played it ventured to strange worlds for their hunts. This one, however, will unfold in our own, just like POGO.
According to the description of the video embedded below, the game will use augmented reality to hunt monsters in their local areas although the trailer itself showed an animated world so that one remains somewhat dubious.
The more concrete details are that the beta starts on April 25, 2023, for which you can sign up right now and that the game is planned for release in September of the same year.
Considering the popularity of Monster Hunter games as well as Niantic themselves, it is a bit surprising there wasn't a long-lasting campaign with pompous teasers beforehand but this approach is actually better for the fans.
Here is the announcement, apply for the beta and if you are lucky, you will get to play the game in a week or so, have fun.
