Even though I'm not huge on the Warhammer 40,000 universe and only have basic knowledge of this mega-popular sci-fi fantasy setting, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was on my radar ever since Focus Entertainment and Saber first revealed their big sequel.
I mean, what's there not to like in those trailers we got so far? The game looks stunning, the action is brutal and huge swarms of enemies on the screen simply make me want to take that Power Sword and start slashing those Xenos.
With the latest trailer which the devs showed at the Skulls showcase, I'm even more excited as all of that action will be available in campaign co-op mode on launch.
Yes, Space Marine 2 will come with an all-new three-player co-op mode called Operations Mode. The mode will let players choose from six available classes so you can be Sniper, Bulwark, Assault, Tactical or something else that is to your liking.
Now for the coolest part, you can also customise your Space Marine from helm to greaves by changing colour, adding decals and other cosmetics. More customisation options will be added through Season Pass. The developers also promise to introduce new free content for all players via post-launch updates.
In addition to co-op, Space Marine 2 also announced a 6v6 multiplayer mode for those who prefer real humans for opponents. You will be able to play as Chaos Space Marines or the Adeptus Astartes in six modes: Annihilation, Seize Ground, and Capture and Control.
Both modes look really fun in the short new trailer which you can check out on top and we're really excited to see more and perhaps even get the opportunity to play the game before launch through beta, if Saber and Focus ever announce one. Fingers crossed for that!
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine officially launches on September 9, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
