Survival game fans wanting a less stressful take on colony-building are in luck. Indie studio Miju Games announced today that The Planet Crafter will launch on PS5 later this year. Coming July 21, 2026, the sci-fi survival sim brings its non-violent crafting loop to consoles for the first time.
Instead of fighting monsters or evading death traps at every turn, The Planet Crafter asks you to terraform an uninhabitable planet into one you can live on. Start off with nothing but your bare hands and learn to survive before building up new machinery that can produce oxygen, water, and breathable air.
It may start as a game of survival, but it won’t take long before you jump into the meat of the game: planet-wide progression.
The Planet Crafter doesn’t have any form of combat or antagonists to speak of. Forget worrying about running from mobs or conserving your supplies from predators, you can take your time mining stones or building your own base of operations.
Progression comes in the form of terraforming technology. Build drills to harvest minerals, heaters to melt glaciers, and atmospheric fabricators to begin introducing oxygen to the surface. And the best part? These fabricators will continue running in real-time while you’re off doing other things, like exploring the planet.
Watch as your planet flourish with rivers, greenery, and uncover areas that were previously frozen over.Single-player and online co-op multiplayer are supported, letting you invite friends to join you and work towards terraforming the planet.
As you work, you’ll slowly see progress across your game’s world as you alter the planet’s environment.Outside of terraforming, players can scavenge the planet for resources. Seek out meteorites, mine for uncommon minerals, and discover the remains of other survivors who came before you.
