The release and publishing of Concord, a first-person hero shooter game, couldn't be more unsuccessful, both critically and commercially speaking, as the game received a lot of negative reviews. It seems this big release for PlayStation has served to do almost literally nothing with its player base.
Industry analyst Simon Carless took to IGN to say that Concord has only moved 25,000 units since it released over a week ago. Broken down, the sales mean 15,000 copies were sold on PlayStation, with the remainder-10,000-sold on PC.
These figures are alarmingly low, especially considering the title had been in development for eight years. It did similarly bad on Steam, with less than 700 concurrent players marking its initial movement-a particularly bad omen for a game trying its hand at the competitive hero shooter genre.
Concord received a somewhat tepid reception by both critics and players alike, but the game fell short in many key areas. The game was over-relying on the galactic guide to the detriment of allowing room for innovative gameplay.
All in all, the launch of Concord has been underwhelming, to say the least. As a first-party PlayStation title, one would have thought that the game would spark interest among gamers, but so far, it leaves much to question regarding its future in an already crowded market. The game is available for PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.
And in the end, this lack of creativity with the product and the fact that its competitors make more available content and other miscellaneous stuff for free likely led to the worse-than-expected sales.
