The already legendary Nintendo Entertainment System was always going to make a splash but the company failed to anticipate just how popular the remake will be. NES Classic is back though and Nintendo says there are plenty in stock.
Nintendo tweeted the news themselves, saying that NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic edition are "expected to be available through the end of the year".
NES Classic package comes with the console, one NES Classic controller, HDMI and 30 included games. The controllers also work with Virtual Console on Wii and Wii U consoles, so it's an added bonus.
The console even allows you to customise that latest and greatest TV you've got with three display modes. CRT filter adds scanlines while 4:3 locks you into that classic TV gaming feel. As for the games, we're talking about classics such as Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Marios, Metroid, etc.
You may recall NES Classic launching in November 2016 to unbelievable demand. In fact, most of us remember the launch from headlines, rather than shelves. Nintendo's little champ was pretty much impossible to get your mitts on.
Nintendo learned their lesson with their following nostalgia mining exploit, ensuring that there's plenty of SNES Classics on the market to satisfy the demand. In fact, SNES Classic by February 2018, 2 million of which came in the first month since it launched. That most certainly doesn't sound like a 30+ year old console, does it?
In similar news, SNK have announced NEOGEO Mini with 40 classic games so there won't be any shortage of retro gaming this summer, that's for sure. Indeed, the market has proven to be a true goldmine, both for manufacturers and players.
It's pretty interesting seeing these classic consoles do well on the market and many argue that their popularity is due to gamers of all ages pouncing on some retro gaming. Indeed, if you're a big fan of NES, you might as well go for the mini version under your TV.
