Bandai Namco announced that Julia Chang and Negan will join the Tekken 7 roster as DLC characters on 28 February 2019. This announcement was followed by a trailer with the characters' abilities, for a quick preview of what they can do.
Negan's guest appearance in Tekken universe has been both the source of scepticism among those who think he will not fit or that his power can't compare to that of his opponents, as well as the source of hype for Tekken 7 players who also happen to be fans of The Walking Dead TV series.
It seems like both parties were right in their views, as contradictory as they may look at first. Negan is certainly just human with a bat wrapped in barbed wire, so it's hard to imagine him beating down fighters with the Devil Gene. Then again, it's hard to imagine Yamcha beating down Jiren, but it is possible in Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Those who were optimistic about Negan will likely be happy about his arrival. Bandai Namco did well to capture the likeness of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Negan's quirks are all there. He is shown to execute people with Lucille, the barbed bat as well as stab them with his knife. Stabbing was already seen in Tekken series, but Yoshimitsu's sword stabs didn't seem this brutal.
Then, there is the matter of Negan's profanity. He is cursing in just about every sentence, which may be off-putting to some players as it doesn't entirely fit the previous character interactions in Tekken series. On the other hand, this is staying in character with Negan, so it is commendable Bandai Namco decided to stay true to it.

On the other side of the spectrum is Julia Chang, who is a classic character in Tekken and is a far cry from Negan's brutal demeanor. Her default outfit is a bit different from the original one featuring the mix of Native American and Texan outfits, but it is available as a costume.
