Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector seems to still hold a bunch of goodies in store and the first large expansion will be the addition of the Necrons faction.

Black Lab Games provided a pleasant surprise for all the fans of W40K: Battlesector by announcing the game would be getting a new faction in 2022 - the sleepy boys of the grimdark future, Necrons themselves.

As per usual, these murder machines were asleep for millions of years before some numbskull poked the hornet's nest and caused them to start annihilating all life they come in contact with. Other than that, the devs didn't provide more context on the nature of the Necrons' party crashing.

The DLC will be paid as adding a full faction is no small task but the pricing has not been revealed yet. One important detail is that the DLC will be only semi-paid. In order to use the Necrons in multiplayer or the new campaign mode, you will have to shell out the cash.

However, even if you don't purchase the DLC, you will get the new campaign mode at no extra cost. That said, the new campaign mode will be the conquest type of thing we previously saw in several W40K games, such as Soulstorm, with several factions vying for control over a territory. Without paying for the DLC, you will be able to play this campaign with Blood Angels or the Tyranids but the Necrons will still appear as the enemies.

There are screenshots of the new faction and as you can see, the Necrons are carefully recreated just like the Blood Angels and Tyranids were, which is bound to get Black Lab even more goodwill from the fans, provided the faction is balanced well enough for multiplayer.

One piece of news that is likely to excite the fans is that the devs already confirmed there will be even more factions in the future , providing Battlesector with an even longer lifespan.
