On June 23, Frostpunk 2’s first expansion, Breach of Trust, will arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Developer 11 bit studios has shared some details on what players can expect from the DLC.
Those who own the game will find a new story campaign that shifts focus away from the original Frostark area. Players will explore new mechanics, factions, and dangers as they try to survive.
New City Introduction
In Breach of Trust players will arrive in New Edinburgh, a city built around an active volcano. The colony uses geothermal resources for power generation, but doing so has made living conditions increasingly unstable.
The city is facing multiple threats as their leader was removed, and players will assume control as the First Citizen. Players will have to deal with those wanting your removal while the volcano threatens to wipe the city out.
Public approval will be tallied through a new Vote of Trust system that will occur throughout gameplay.
Story Events
The DLC will have players face off against new gameplay systems, as well as deadly volcanic environmental hazards. Breach of Trust will introduce:
- Hazards such as Tremors and Volcano Nights
- Larger emphasis on interactive story events and decisions
- Ability to contact and aid independent colonies with trade, extortion or invasion
Those updates flesh out survival gameplay and political decisions players must make.
Factions, Maps, and More
Players can expect five new factions to come into contact with during gameplay. Each offers their own flavor to both story and survival aspects.
Breach of Trust will include:
- 2 new scenario based maps
- 5 new Buildings/Infrastructure
- New Laws

Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust will hopefully provide players with engaging content through its story-focused expansion and additions to game systems.
Mixing urgency of political strife with the peril of the icy wilderness, Breach of Trust carries Frostpunk's theme of persevering through adversity by any means necessary.
