Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been confirmed for the 2026 release window. The game was first announced in 2020 as under development at Ubisoft Mumbai and Pune. While Ubisoft had an initial plan to release the game in 2021, they delayed the release following negative fan reactions.
Since then, the game's development has been taken over by Ubisoft Montreal, the original studio behind the OG Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Now under the joint efforts of Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Montreal, the game is heading towards a positive direction with a 2026 release window as confirmed at the Ubisoft Forward Showcase.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake gets a 2026 Release window
Ubisoft's original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is one of the most loved titles in the series. Since its release in 2003, the game gave rise to a dedicated fan base. Moreover, the success of this game led to the development and consequent release to a trilogy.
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones was the last major entrant in the series. Since then Ubisoft released Prince of Persia titles for systems like PSP, Nintendo DS and mobile phones. However, in 2020 Ubisoft announced their plans to remake Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Following negative fan reception and other issues, the game was handed over to Ubisoft Montreal and now with the Ubisoft Forward Showcase 2024, Ubisoft has finally announced the remake for a 2026 release window. In a short teaser clip, Ubisoft only shared the most-awaited release date.
Ubisoft has not mentioned any details regarding the game's platforms, pricing or gameplay. However, considering the game being taken over Ubisoft Montreal alongside other Ubisoft-led studios, we can expect the game to be a fully polished experience for players around the world.
