Ed Boon has been providing Mortal Kombat 11 information left and right recently, and story aspects managed to get some emphasis. For example, he confirmed that Mortal Kombat 11 will have the longest story so far as well as multiple endings.
NetherRealm Studios are both known for delivering amazing fighting in their games and surprisingly entertaining story modes that can be compared to three-hour-long movies. Fans wondered before each of their releases whether they could up the ante with the next one. They have delivered so far, and are looking ready to do it again with Mortal Kombat 11's story.
Mortal Kombat (2011) , Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 have a rather convoluted story due to Raiden's time meddling and the new supposed antagonist, Kronika, is here to fix his wrongs. According to several , Ed Boon confirmed that Mortal Kombat 11 will have multiple endings, but he didn't offer any insight on whether it's just two like in Injustice 2, or which one would be the canonic ending.
It is possible that there are more than two endings, due to the than in the previous games. Kronika and Raiden will obviously be in the centre of the story as the former feels like the thunder dude meddled with time too much and shifted the balance of scales too much in Earthrealm's favour.
The first branching of the storyline will likely be when players get to decide whether to support the corrupted Raiden's crusade and continue the timeline from the ending of Mortal Kombat X, or let Kronika shift it back, possibly to the days of Shao Kahn's invasion. As both of these endings look a bit grim for Earthrealm, one way or another, it is possible that there will be at least one more option, but none of it has been officially confirmed yet.

Either way, it will be interesting how the new timeline unfolds, as Kronika's intervention included , such as Liu Kang, Kitana and Kung Lao, who will face off against their undead selves at some point.
As a bonus, Boon confirmed that one well known character will be revealed later, with a new appearance. Fingers crossed that we see Sindel in a new version.
