In celebration of 25 years of the Invincible comic, NetherRealm Studios revealed a gameplay teaser for Omni-Man, who is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 in November 2023.
He will be a part of the first Kombat Pack, which will also include Quan Chi, Ermac, Homelander, Peacemaker and Takeda.
As for the trailer itself, it featured a ton of references to the source material, handsomely animated in Prime's TV show the first time around and faithfully recreated in Mortal Kombat 1.
First, there is the scene where he savagely beats Liu Kang, culminating in a double hammer fist to his head, which mirrors the scene where Omni-Man did the same to his son - Invincible, right before creating a meme template about mimicking a fraction of their power.
Then he puts Scorpion through a train full of hapless passengers, which is once again something Omni-Man did to his son. Something here hints he is not father-of-the-year material.
Finally, there is the scene where Omni-Man is squeezing Liu Kang's skull as the latter's eyes bulge, which is a reference to the very beginning of the TV show where this Superman equivalent mops the floor with the discount Justice League.
You can check out the comparisons in video form in a tweet from no other than Ed Boon himself.
