Everwild is one of the few upcoming Xbox exclusives that we pretty much know nothing about. Apart from the two stunning trailers and a couple of developer interviews from 2020, little is known about this enchanting title from Rare.
Rumours suggested that Everwild was rebooted shortly after the official announcement but Xbox said such statements are exaggerated, asserting that the team are simply focused on creating something special.
And judging by the latest update from trusted Xbox insider Jez Corden, Rare have finally managed to find that fun and addictive gameplay loop for Everwild.
Apparently, Xbox are now becoming more confident in Everwild as the game is heading in the right direction after many ups and downs, Corden revealed in the new episode of the Xbox Two podcast (30:40).
"They've nailed down the core fun loop of the game, it sounds like they're moving in the right direction now, from what I've heard."
Jez also stated that Microsoft have been confident about games that turned out to be bad before so you may want to stay cautiously optimistic about this one, rather than jumping on the hype train right now.
Unfortunately, Jez still does not have information on the game's direction and what it could be. We heard some rumblings that it could be a creature-collecting game or Rare's take on the survival genre but who knows if that's true since the game was rebooted.
Jez wrapped up his Everwild rumours section by speculating that based on the amount of chatter he's seeing right now from his sources, Everwild could be re-revealed very soon, potentially at The Game Awards in late December 2024 or the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2025.
Everwild is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on day one on Game Pass. The game does not have a release date at the moment.
In case you're unfamiliar with the game, Rare and Xbox promise a "unique and unforgettable experience" in "a natural and magical world". The trailers show a group of females healing magical animals and nature, which could suggest this could be a big part of the game's concept. That's pretty much everything we know so far about Everwild.
