Developer Archetype Entertainment have a new cinematic trailer for their upcoming sci-fi RPG called Exodus. This time around, the team wanted to offer something properly spooky - we are in the month of October after all.
The trailer introduces the game's most terrifying enemy faction yet called The Mara Yama. Yeah, their name may not sound that scary but the faction rocks quite the horror look, reminding me of Locust from Gears of War franchise in some way.
Holywood actor Matthew McConaughey lends his voice for the narration in this one and it's safe to say that he did an impeccable job, giving the video an ever darker and mysterious tone.
I recommend you check out the video which will give you a clearer picture on what the Mara Yama are but in case you don't have the time for that, here's a short description from Archeytpe:
"The Mara Yama, horrifying Celestials, twisted into monstrous forms, are unlike anything humanity has ever faced in the battle for survival. The Mara Yama feed on fear, delight in cruelty, and revel in the agony of their prey. They aren’t just hunters – they are sadistic predators who savor every moment of psychological torment they inflict."
If you're looking for more similar stories on Exodus and its universe, Archetype have a full website of blog posts and videos for you to learn more about the world, enemies, stories and more.
Exodus does not have a release date at the moment but we know it's coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In case you're not familiar with the game, Exodus features intense action and deep exploration with companions by your side. The devs also promise a unique time dilation feature which could require you to make some tough choices in your playthrough.
To me, it looks like a spiritual successor to Mass Effect and that's more than enough to get me excited.
