Free Range Games and North Beach, the developers responsible for making the not-so-popular Lord of the Rings game, LOTR: Return to Moria, have just announced that they're planning to release the game for Xbox Series X|S and Steam later this month, on August 27, to be precise.
Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria was released for the PlayStation 5 and PC (Epic Games) last year, but it cannot be said that it was highly popular, not even among Lord of the Rings die-hard fans, let alone regular players. Perhaps the developers hope that the game's popularity might rise due to its availability on the two new platforms.
Apart from the release on Xbox Series X|S and Steam, the game will receive a major update called The Golden Update, which will aim to fix all the problems the game had earlier. The Golden Update will introduce the new crossplay feature between all available platforms and will give players access to the game’s sandbox mode and all the content drops the game has received since it was first released.
For those unfamiliar with the game, it is a survivor title with a strong focus on resource-gathering set in Dwarf's kingdom of Moria during the fourth age of Middle Earth, meaning the plot took place after the events of the LOTR trilogy films. The main character of this game is Gimli Lockbearer who is voiced by John Rhys-Davies, the same actor who played Gimli in the films.
