Key Points from the Article

  • League of Legends Patch 14.4 brings significant changes to the meta, including nerfs to Lethal Tempo Rune, which affects Yasuo and Yone midlaners.
  • Lethal Tempo used to grant 9 to 13.5% Attack Speed per stack, but it has been reduced to 5 to 16% per stack in the patch.
  • This change affects the early game power of Yasuo and Yone, as they rely on attack speed to be oppressive.
  • ADC mains are also affected by the Lethal Tempo adjustment, but they are expected to have a stronger late game.

League of Legends players are ecstatic as the latest patch 14.4 adjusts Lethal Tempo which in turn gutted the two mid-lane brothers abusing it, Yasuo and Yone.

The upcoming League of Legends Patch 14.4 brings massive changes to the meta. While most of those changes were done to Champions and Items,  Riot only changed one rune in this patch. That rune is the Lethal Tempo Rune.

A diverse group of champions love abusing this rune including ADCs, Top Laners, and Mid Laners. Among all of them, Yasuo and Yone are two of the most infamous brothers taking advantage of this rune. You either love them and play them, or you simply hate them. There's no in-between.

As Lethal Tempo got adjusted, it severely affected Yasuo and Yone mains and forced them to use other runes instead of abusing Lethal Tempo.

What does the Lethal Tempo adjustments mean?

Before this patch, Lethal Tempo used to grant 9 to 13.5% Attack Speed to Champions per stack. This meant champions that require attack speed can just take this rune to make up for the lack of attack speed early game.

After this patch, Lethal Tempo will grant 5 to 16% attack speed per stack. Even though technically players can gain more attack speed as the game progresses, the early game attack speed gain got nearly halved if you do the math.

In short:

  • Lethal Tempo grants less attack speed early game
  • Lethal Tempo now grants more attack speed late late-game

For Yasuo and Yone mains, this translated into them not being able to take advantage of this rune in the early game. Both of their Qs have empowered effects so since they are not able to attack as fast as before, they are unable to be so oppressive early game.

Moreover, they are both melee attackers that love crit and attack speed so they may be having a slow early start, they will however be much stronger late game compared to before.

Other than the cringe mid-lane brothers, ADC mains are affected by this too. However even though they all will have a slightly slower early game, things will ramp up late game for sure. Thanks, Riot for making this much-needed change.
