One of the original LEague of Legends champions has been becoming more and more of a meme these past months. Just what is going on with this champion?
In the lore, Ryze is a man who has dedicated his life to the pursuit of the World Runes, the very same items that led to the Rune Wars, and have the power to tear the world of RUneterra asunder.
This, naturally, makes him an extremely important character in the lore. However, due to his old age, the in-game champion has been reworked the most out of all League of Legends champions, due to the fact that his kit makes him uniquely overpowered in pro play, while the ranked SoloQ is an abysmal place to be as a Ryze main.
Now, Ryze is sitting at around 40% Win Rate in SoloQ, and Riot have finally deigned to throw a bone his way and give him a small buff where his E AP ratio is increased, and its mana cost is decreased.
However, due to the unfair treatment of the player, the Ryze mains community has all but given up on playing the champion seriously and seems to be focused only on ramming his win rate into the dirt, by any means necessary, until Riot find a way to make the champion viable once again.
For those that know what a terror Ryze is to play against while the meta favors him, it seems a wise course of action for everyone to hope that Ryze is adjusted into a better champion, balance-wise, rather than the one-shot versatile monster he can be, or the unacceptable state he is in at the moment.
