League of Legends players will find champion costs reduced by half as Riot Games reveals official price cuts for Blue Essence.
With Patch 25.05 which released on March 5, 2025 Riot Games will slash champion prices in League of Legends by half to help new players unlock their preferred champions quickly.
The roster of League of Legends includes 170 champions each possessing distinct abilities and playstyles. Unlocking champions has consistently taken new players a significant amount of time to complete. The initial free champions start players off but require months to years to gain access to the remaining champions.
How much will champions cost now?
The community has long demanded cheaper champion prices because they believe the time-consuming process prevents new players from fully participating in the game.
BE prices have been slashed by 50% in Riot's latest update which allows players to assemble their champion roster much more quickly.
Champion prices have been reduced by 50% making champions that cost 6300 BE now available for 3150 BE. The price reduction affects every champion which reduces the difficulty for new players to build a strong champion collection.
Other changes in Patch 25.07
Riot is changing Hextech Chests in the 2025 Season 1 Act 2 Battle Pass while they reduce champion costs. The new Battle Pass system lets players earn chests and keys instead of skins and includes eight free chests for each act.
Release date for the Blue Essence price change
Patch 25.05 and others following will activate the 50% champion cost reduction, that started with March 5, 2025. The update focuses on enhancing the experience for new players by simplifying the process of testing various champions and discovering the game’s diverse roster.
