The preview of League of Legends Patch 13.21 is here, and it appears to be another substantial update. Building on the extensive changes introduced in Patch 13.20, Riot is addressing various aspects of the game to maintain a balanced and enjoyable experience for players.
In Patch 13.20, we witnessed significant alterations to the jungle, starting items, support items, and more. Now, Patch 13.21 aims to build upon these changes.
Jungle Buffs To address the underperformance of AD champions in the jungle, Riot is buffing AD champions like Kha'Zix, Bel'Veth, and Hecarim. Additionally, champions such as Brand and Zyra are receiving jungle-specific buffs.
Nerfs On the nerf side, some prominent champions and runes are facing adjustments.
Champion Nerfs
Aurelion Sol
- Q – Breath of Light: Damage Per Second and Burst Damage are getting reduced. Aurelion Sol's strength has been amplified by recent changes in Patch 13.20, enabling him to reach his late-game potential more reliably. However, he has become slightly overpowered, prompting Riot to introduce nerfs in Patch 13.21.
Briar
- Base Stats: Attack Speed Growth is decreasing.
- Passive – Crimson Curse: The remaining bleed heal after the target dies is being increased.
- W – Snack Attack: Damage is adjusted to reduce its scaling with the target's missing health. Briar initially appeared weak upon release but gained popularity over time, becoming one of the top junglers.
Caitlyn
- Passive – Headshot: Critical scaling and R – Ace In The Hole cooldown and damage are being adjusted. Caitlyn's Lethality build has been thriving, leading to adjustments to her abilities and build paths to ensure balance.
Dr. Mundo
- E – Blunt Force Trauma: Bonus Attack Damage is being decreased. Dr. Mundo experienced notable improvements in Patch 13.20, and Riot is dialing back some of his power.
Jinx
- Passive – Get Excited: Changes are introduced to the maximum stacks and how attack speed stacks are gained. The previous patch made Jinx exceedingly potent, especially in teamfights. Riot is implementing limits on her passive stacks to restore balance.
Rammus
- Q – Powerball: Damage is reduced.
- W – Defensive Ball Curl: Bonus Armor and Magic Resistance are scaled down. Rammus, already strong, became even more potent following the jungle changes in Patch 13.20, securing his spot at the top of the jungle meta.
System Nerfs
First Strike
- Bonus True Damage is slightly reduced. First Strike has become excessively powerful due to longer game times, prompting Riot to make minor adjustments.
Phase Rush
- Melee Bonus Movement Speed is toned down. Compared to other rune choices, Phase Rush exhibited notable strength, leading to a reduction in its effectiveness.
Release Date: These changes are set to go live in Patch 13.21, scheduled for release on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
