The role of the jungle in League of Legends has always been distinct from the traditional lanes. Balancing this unique role while ensuring it harmonizes with the rest of the game has been an ongoing challenge for Riot Games. Following significant adjustments in Patch 13.20, Riot is now working to fine-tune the jungle experience to ensure it remains enjoyable and balanced.
Unlike supports, who have restrictions tied to ward duration and numbers, jungle champions, with their pets, smite, and buffs, seem to have too much sustainability, especially during the mid to late game. These changes are intended to encourage junglers to recall more frequently, ensuring a better overall game balance.
Specific Changes to Jungle Pets in Patch 13.21 Riot's focus in this patch has been on jungle pets, making adjustments to their damage, AD/AP ratios, and healing capabilities.
Specific Changes to Jungle Pets in Patch 13.21 Riot's focus in this patch has been on jungle pets, making adjustments to their damage, AD/AP ratios, and healing capabilities.
- Pet Damage: Decreased from 16 to 15.5.
- Bonus AD Ratio: Reverted to 10% from 0.
- AP Ratio: Reverted from 10% to 12%.
- Healing from Attacks: Altered from 70% of damage dealt to a range of 13 - 46 (Level 1 to 12).
- Large Monster Healing Cap: Set at 90.
The reduction in base damage is relatively minor, with the most notable change being the return of the AD ratio to 10%. This change implies that junglers will experience more efficient camp clearing after acquiring bonus AD. While the AP ratio has been reverted as well, it's not as significant a change, as AP-based champions already tend to have efficient clears.
The shift from healing 70% of damage by pets to a fixed healing value is a notable alteration. Additionally, healing from large monsters now has an upper limit set at 90.
These changes collectively aim to improve the game balance while maintaining the jungle's unique role in League of Legends.
