Riot Games failed to bring Nexus Blitz back in 2022 as promised, but they assure players that Nexus Blitz will be coming back soon in League of Legends season 2023.
In the past, League of Legends featured several permanent game modes, such as Dominion and Twisted Treeline, for players to enjoy. However, these modes were eventually removed, and the Rotating Game Mode (RGM) system was introduced. This system featured various game modes, such as Ultra Rapid Fire (URF), Nexus Blitz, One For All, Ultimate Spellbook, and more. Some of these modes were recurring events, while others were one-time only.
One of the popular game modes from the RGM system was Nexus Blitz. The last time this mode was available as an event mode was in Season 11. Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, promised that Nexus Blitz would return in 2022. However, this promise was not fulfilled, and the status of the game mode remains unknown.
In a Twitter post, players discussed various topics, including an upcoming 2v2v2v2 game mode. In the thread, a Riot Games employee, known as Riot Meddler, spoke about the status of Nexus Blitz, and another Riot staff member also provided information on the game mode's current status.
Riot Games employee, Riot Meddler, and Riot Brightmoon discussed the development of Nexus Blitz in a Twitter video. They explained that the team responsible for game modes had to be rebuilt as most of the previous team focused on Teamfight Tactics.
However, they stated that the team is now fully functional and ready to create new game modes.
Riot Meddler discussed the upcoming 2v2v2v2 game mode in a Reddit thread and also provided an update on the status of Nexus Blitz. He acknowledged that the company failed to bring Nexus Blitz back in 2022 as promised.
He did not provide an official timeline for its return, but he assured players that Nexus Blitz will be coming back soon. He responded to multiple comments in the thread, reiterating that the game mode is in development and will be released in the near future.
