League of Legends: Changes coming to Champion Mastery in 2024

Riot Games aims to improve the Champion Mastery system in League of Legends by offering more substantial rewards to players who dedicate time and expertise to mastering a specific champion.

In the ever-evolving landscape of League of Legends, Riot Games has set its sights on enhancing the player experience by reimagining the Champion Mastery system in the upcoming year.

Recognizing the current system's limitations, Riot Games is committed to introducing modifications that will significantly elevate the rewards for players who invest their time and dedication into mastering a specific champion.

In a detailed blog post released on December 11, Riot Games expressed its dedication to refining the Champion Mastery system. The primary goal is to offer more substantial rewards to players who demonstrate unwavering commitment and expertise with a particular champion.

Current System Shortcomings

The existing system involves players accumulating XP through match participation, coupled with the accrual of champion-specific Mastery points.

As players reach specific point milestones, they unlock Mastery Levels, with prestigious titles such as Executioner and Deathmaster requiring a considerable number of points and S tokens, the latter awarded for outstanding in-game performances.

While the current system has been in place for years, Riot Games acknowledges that some players achieved the highest levels long ago with their main champions.

In 2022, Riot Games introduced Eternals as a novel dimension to showcase mastery, focusing on specific in-game statistics. However, Eternals did not garner the expected success and came at a cost, unlike the complimentary Mastery Levels.

As the League of Legends community eagerly anticipates the changes, Riot Games remains committed to creating a Champion Mastery system that truly celebrates and rewards the dedication of players, promising an exciting evolution in 2024.

Stay tuned for more updates as the developer continues to shape the future of in-game mastery.
