Riot Games started bragging that Summoner's Rift is going to get a very special Arcane-themed rework in League of Legends in order to celebrate the release of Arcane Season 2.
The game's iconic map has gone unchanged since the game went live back in 2009, and while it has several visual touch-ups over the years, it seldom undergoes any actual changes.
This year alone, the map received a new set of changes at the beginning that saw Riot Games update it for balancing gameplay.
In the early days of League of Legends, Riot was frequently releasing cosmetic changes to Summoner's Rift for major events. A good example being a snow-covered map each holiday season.
Lately, that trend has slowed down, but Riot does still give the map flair for events like Worlds - adding banners and flags to give an almost championship event feel to it.
One catchier change for Summoner's Rift was in 2021, when Riot introduced for the first time an Arcane-themed version of the map. This coincided with the accessional release of Arcane, the animated series based on the League of Legends universe.
The Arcane-themed map was TreeMap, sprinkled with a distinct Hextech aesthetic, boasting modified visuals for key elements like the Nexus, turrets, inhibitors, and minions.
With Arcane Season 2 on the horizon, Riot's bringing that Hextech-inspired map back-along with a brand new ARAM map. Release dates haven't been specified just yet, but safe bets are it'll release with either patch 14.23 on November 20th, 2024, or patch 14.24 on December 11th, 2024.
Soon, League of Legends and Arcane fans will have their first chance in taking in a new Summoner's Rift!
